After three games at the Washington Nationals, the Pittsburgh Pirates return Friday for their home opener against the defending American League East Division champions, the Baltimore Orioles.

Yinzers Unite

Based on this survey, Yinzerpalooza Weekend is the favorite Pirates theme night this season with 38% of the vote. What is it, you ask?

For the third consecutive season, the weekend revolves around a three-game series against Pittsburgh’s in-state and National League rival, the Philadelphia Phillies. From July 19-21, the team and will celebrate everything that is unique to the city of Pittsburgh, featuring postgame Zambelli Fireworks show on Friday, a Yinzer-themed bobblehead giveaway to the first 20,000 fans on Saturday and a kids Pierogi Plush giveaway (14 & under) on Sunday.

The Negro Leagues Legacy Night on Sept. 14 is second on the list with 22% of the vote, with the Kansas City Royals are in town. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Negro League Legacy inspired Pirates T-shirt, featuring the Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Crawfords.

Dollar Dog Nights are third on the list (18%) and will be celebrated six times during the season with $1 hot dogs on sale. Meanwhile, the Phillies announced they will discontinue Dollar Dog promotions this season.

Fan Appreciation Day (15%) returns on Sept. 26 vs. the Milwaukee Brewers and the ever-popular Star Wars Night (7%) is back on May 4 against the Colorado Rockies. The first 20,000 in attendance will get a Star Wars-themed Mitch Keller bobblehead.
