The Eagles' 2026 schedule will be released in May.

Key Contributors Toward Eagles Super Bowl Odds

The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, and their star-studded roster is a big reason why.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts led the charge, making plays both through the air and on the ground all season. Saquon Barkley, in his first year with the team, had a historic campaign, rushing for over 2,000 yards. He set the tone in the NFC Championship Game against Washington with a 60-yard touchdown run on his very first carry. Barkley enters the new season as the favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year. Wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have been reliable go-to targets, keeping the offense balanced and explosive.

On defense, the Eagles built a tough, disruptive unit last season, led by promising young players like Quinton Martin and Cooper DeJean alongside key veterans. This offseason, Philadelphia added important pieces to bolster depth and maintain a strong defense going into 2025. With firepower on both sides of the ball, it’s no surprise the Eagles outplayed the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl 59. Heading into 2025, Philly looks primed to make another serious run at the Lombardi Trophy.

After a loss to the 49ers in the Wildcard Round, there could be some changes in the offseason.

Eagles Super Bowl History

The Philadelphia Eagles were founded in 1933 as a replacement for the defunct Frankford Yellow Jackets. Over their 91-year history, they’ve won five league championships, two of which came during the Super Bowl era. They captured the NFL Championship in 1948, 1949, and 1960 before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Their first Super Bowl victory came in the 2017-18 season when they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. The Eagles secured their second Super Bowl win by beating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX.

Philadelphia’s other Super Bowl appearances include the 1980-81 season, when Dick Vermeil and the Eagles lost to the Oakland Raiders 27-10 in Super Bowl XV; the 2004-05 season, when Andy Reid’s Eagles fell to the New England Patriots 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX; and the 2022-23 season, when Nick Sirianni’s Eagles lost to Andy Reid’s Chiefs 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.

Have the Philadelphia Eagles Ever Won the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles have won the Super Bowl twice in their team history. Head Coach Doug Pederson and backup quarterback-turned-Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles led the Eagles to a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. More recently, Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts guided Philadelphia to a 40-22 win against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

How Many Super Bowls Have the Philadelphia Eagles Won?

The Philadelphia Eagles have won two Super Bowls in team history. Their first win was in Super Bowl LII, when they defeated Tom Brady and the Patriots 41-33 in 2017. Then, they defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs 40-22 in 2025.

Which Years Did the Philadelphia Eagles Go to the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles have gone to the Super Bowl five times throughout their 92-year history.

  • The first was in 1980-81, Super Bowl XV, when they lost 27-10 to the Oakland Raiders.
  • The second was in 2004-05, Super Bowl XXXIX, when they lost to the New England Patriots 24-21.
  • The third was in 2017-18, Super Bowl LII, when they won their first Super Bowl 41-33 over the New England Patriots.
  • The fourth was in 2022-23, Super Bowl LVII, when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.
  • The fifth was in 2024-25, Super Bowl LIX, when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.

The Eagles' first appearance was with QB Ron Jaworski in Super Bowl XV against the Oakland Raiders. Thanks to head coach Dick Vermeil turning the Eagles around, it was their first League Championship since 1960, before the Super Bowl Era. The Eagles lost outright despite being -3 favorites.

The second appearance was a loss to Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the New England Patriots, 24-21. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb threw three TD passes, but matched it with three INTs as well.

Their third appearance will forever be remembered by Eagles fans as they finally got the job done, getting revenge against the New England Patriots with a 41-33 shootout victory. Backup QB Nick Foles out-dueled arguably the greatest QB of all time in Tom Brady. The famous "Philly Special" came out of this game when HC Doug Pederson called a trick play with 34 seconds left in the first half that resulted in Foles catching a TD pass from TE Trey Burton. The Eagles won and beat the spread outright despite being +4.5 underdogs. Foles went on to win Super Bowl MVP thanks to his 373 passing yards, three passing TDs, and a receiving TD.

The Eagles made it back to the Super Bowl to face off against their former head coach, Andy Reid, and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won a high-scoring affair 38-35. The Eagles lost outright despite closing as a -1 favorite.

The Eagles earned their second ring when they again battled Reid and the Chiefs. This time, the Eagles prevailed, routing the Chiefs 40-22. The Eagles dominated the game thanks to a great performance by Jalen Hurts, who won Super Bowl LIX MVP after passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 72 yards and one score. The Eagles prevailed despite opening as a +1.5 underdog.
