Phillies Have Been Scorching Hot in Summer Months Recently
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

What started as a year of promise last season ended in bitter postseason disappointment for the Philadelphia Phillies. They were knocked out by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS after going 90-72 during the regular season.

Many wagers in Pennsylvania sports betting went the wrong way as the Phillies lost the last two games at home at Citizens Bank Park.

Still, the last three seasons have had the Phillies reach the World Series and the NLCS in successive seasons for the first time since 2008 and 2009, when they reached the Fall Classic in back-to-back years.

While Philly awaits the club’s first title since 2008, it’s worth pondering which months the Phillies have thrived in most of late. It’s also worth noting that the Phillies have the seventh-best title odds in MLB on ESPN BET Pennsylvania, at +1500.

With MLB season right around the corner. PennStakes.com – your source for online PA casinos - used Baseball-Reference.com to pull the Phillies records from the past three years to see in which month the team plays best.

Based on the data, the team plays best in June with an impressive 49-28 record and .636 win-loss percentage.

Red-Hot Summers of Late

Whoever said that summer was for the birds obviously forgot about whatever animal the Philadelphia Phanatic is supposed to be. The Phillies have been red-hot of late between June and August.

Overall, June has been the club’s best month, at .636 (49-28). August (52-32/.619) and July (43-33/.566) are not far behind, followed by April (39-37/.513), September (39-41/.488) and May (32-50/.390).

This year, the Phillies will look to continue their hot summers by getting more production out of everyday starters like Bryson Stott (4.3 WAR in 2023), Bryce Harper (3.7 WAR in 2023) and J.T. Realmuto (3.6 WAR). Philadelphia has a dynamic starting rotation spearheaded by veterans like Zack Wheeler (4.3 WAR), Aaron Nola and Ranger Suarez. Wheeler signed the most lucrative extension in baseball history Monday in terms of its average annual value. The three-year deal from 2025-27 is for three years at $126 million.

Redemption begins in late March, when Philly begins the year with three games at Citizens Bank Park against the Atlanta Braves, followed by a three-game stretch against the Cincinnati Reds from April 1-3.

With any luck, the Phillies can even out their win percentage, turning the tide on what’s been a miserable April and May in the City of Brotherly Love on the diamond, while staying red-hot in the scorching summer months.
