In a century where the franchise has reached just one Stanley Cup Final and missed the postseason entirely nine times in the last 13 seasons at PA sportsbooks, it’s a tall task to find the silver linings dotted throughout the modern existence of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey club. That’s exactly what the team at PennStakes.com did, however, using the point share stats compiled by Hockey-Reference.com to come up with the club’s All-Quarter-Century team across the various position groups in today’s NHL landscape.

Starting things out, few Flyers players have meant more to the club over the years than center Claude Giroux, who ranks third all-time on the franchise’s point share leaderboard, with 94.6 in 1,000 games played in Philly, lighting the lamp 291 times and adding 609 assists in those contests for the club.
In the Flyers’ rich history, only Bernie Parent (106.8 win shares) and Bobby Clarke (106.1 point shares) had a higher total in their careers with the club than Giroux, speaking to the Ontario native’s impact on the Philadelphia hockey scene in general.
Other members of the Flyers’ All-Quarter-Century team at the position include the team’s current center, Sean Couturier, who has 53.4 point shares in 874 games played with Philly, scoring 206 goals and dishing out 337 assists between 2011-12 and 2024-25.
The other centers to make the cut were a pair of players that suited up for Philly from 2005 to 2011, in Jeff Carter and his 43.2 point shares and Mike Richards, who finished his run with the Flyers with 37.5 point shares.

On the left side of the faceoff circle, no Flyers player has done more for the Flyers this century than Simon Gagne, who racked up 62.6 point shares in 691 games with Philly between 2000 and 2010 before returning to the city from 2012 to 2013.
Overall, Gagne’s 264 goals and 271 assists with the Flyers helped him rank ahead of the other wingers to make the cut, including Scott Hartnell (39.6 point shares in 517 games with the Flyers), James van Riemsdyk (31.0 point shares in 527 games in Philly) and John LeClair (19.3 point shares in 649 games with the club).

Across the front line, no right winger has done more for the Flyers in recent years than Czech forward Jakub Voracek, who had 60.6 point shares in 727 games played with the Flyers from 2011 to 2021, scoring 177 goals and dishing out 527 assists in those contests.
The All-Star winger finished ahead of the team’s current right winger, Travis Konecny (47.8 point shares in 646 games played), Wayne Simmonds (43.3 point shares in 584 games played) and Daniel Briere (32.8 point shares in 364 games played), illustrating the impact that the quartet had on the club during their respective runs inside Wells Fargo Center.

On the blue line, the Flyer of distinction when it came to point share totals was Finnish ironman Kimmo Timonen, who had 46.3 point shares in 519 games with the Flyers from 2007 to 2014, anchoring the team’s defensive lineup while notching 38 goals and 232 assists with a +44 rating in those contests.
Timonen, who played 1,108 NHL games in total with the Nashville Predators, Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks from 1998-99 through 2014-15, ranked ahead of other well-known Flyers defensemen like Ivan Provorov (38.3 point shares in 532 games with the Flyers), Travis Sanheim (34.4 point shares in 579 games played), Shayne Gostisbehere (33.4 point shares in 381 games played), Braydon Coburn (32.9 point shares in 576 games played) and Kim Johnsson (30.3 point shares in 291 games played).
Of the sextet of defensemen to make the cut, only Sanheim is currently employed by the Flyers, with the most recent blue liner to make the list being Provorov, who last suited up for Philly in 2023.

Finally, the most accomplished goalie in recent Flyers history has been Steve Mason, who ranks third all-time on the franchise’s goalie point shares leaderboard, at 42.9, behind Bernie Parent (106.8) and Ron Hextall (76.5).
The 2008-09 Calder Memorial Trophy winner ranked ahead of Carter Hart, who notched 36.6 point shares in 227 NHL games (all with the Flyers), on Philly’s goaltender point shares leaderboard, speaking to the impact that the Ontario native had on hockey in the City of Brotherly Love between the pipes over the years.
