The Pittsburgh Steelers sent a minor shockwave across the football world on Wednesday morning, dealing fourth-year wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Pickens ends his three-year run in Pittsburgh with 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.
What move might be next for the Steelers that matters for Pennsylvania sports betting? PennStakes.com broke down the odds on which wide receiver Pittsburgh might bring in next, either out of free agency or via a trade, before training camp this summer.

Reports emerged Wednesday morning that the Steelers sent Pickens and a sixth-round draft pick in 2027 to the Cowboys for a third-round pick in 2026 and a fifth-rounder in 2027. The Steelers had already made a major deal before April’s NFL Draft, signing former Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf to a four-year deal with an average annual salary of $33 million.
Our top pick for the Steelers this season, should they opt to add another wideout, is unrestricted free agent Tyler Boyd, a veteran formerly with the Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans. Boyd checks in at +550, just ahead of fellow UFAs Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper, who are co-listed at +600 to join the AFC North stalwarts this NFL season.
Keep up with Pittsburgh Steelers odds with us as the season approaches.
Throw in the potential for a preseason trade with the New York Jets to land Allen Lazard at +700 and the fourth and final UFA candidate, former Detroit Lions pass catcher Allen Robinson at +1500 and you have our Steelers WR odds chart covered. Another possibility is that the Steelers bring in somebody off of our board, collectively known as “the field,” at +475 or that the team doesn’t add another wide receiver between now and Week 1, at +425.
Current Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl odds have the black and gold as a longshot for the 2025-26 season.
Of the five receivers listed on our Steelers odds board, Allen is the most accomplished. The third-round pick in 2013 has made the Pro Bowl six times, racking up an approximate value of 97 (per Pro-Football-Reference.com), with 11,274 receiving yards on 974 receptions in 154 NFL games. He has been with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears.
Cooper isn’t far behind, however, with the former Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills wideout hauling in 711 catches for 10,033 yards and 64 touchdowns in 154 games played since being taken third overall in 2015. His career AV is 83, according to the Pro Football Reference website.
Finally, Robinson (55 AV, 565 receptions, 7,058 yards and 43 touchdowns) and Lazard (29 AV, 229 catches, 3,077 yards and 27 touchdowns) have less on-field cred than the others but would still represent an influx in veteran talent. The Steelers could make a deal for either between now and the start of training camp this summer.
In an under-the-radar move, Pittsburgh signed 13-year veteran WR Robert Woods shortly after April’s draft.
As of May 7, BetMGM Pennsylvania Sportsbook lists the Steelers at +600 odds to win the AFC North next season. That’s behind the Baltimore Ravens (-135) and Cincinnati Bengals (+200) but ahead of the Cleveland Browns (+3000).

A: We give a 19.1% chance (+425 odds) that the Steelers won’t add any more wide receivers before Week 1. The team might be content with its current depth chart or might wait to evaluate players during training camp.
A: Tyler Boyd is currently the most likely candidate at +550 odds (15.4%), followed closely by Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper, both at +600 (14.3%). These veteran free agents could bring leadership and production to a relatively young receiving group along with new acquisition D.K. Metcalf.
A: Both veterans are plausible targets, with +600 odds each (14.3%) on our board. If the Steelers decide to make a bold move, either Allen or Cooper could step in as a WR1 or WR2, giving Pittsburgh another reliable and explosive target.
