By Lou Monaco

Live! Casino announced Monday it will open a new poker room and host a free poker dealer school in the Pittsburgh region. The new poker room will give players more Pennsylvania gambling options.

The new poker room, the casino’s first, will have seven tables and is scheduled to open at the casino in Westmoreland Mall (Greensburg) in early 2022, pending approvals by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, according to a news release. The poker room is expected to be about 1,400 square feet and create about 25 new jobs.

Starting Monday, the mini casino will also be holding a free poker dealer school to any interested individuals that might want to start or revive a career in the gaming industry.

“Our new Poker Room will be exciting and provide our guests with yet another reason to enjoy their time with us at Live! Casino,” Sean Sullivan, general manager of Live! Casino, said in a news release. “Our free poker dealer school is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to start a career in the fast-paced gaming industry. Live! is proud to continue its investment in Westmoreland County through opportunities like the free poker dealer school for members in and around our community.”

Live! Has Philadelphia Poker Room

Live! Casino Philadelphia offers a 29-table poker room. The Cordish Cos. is the parent company of Live! Casinos.

Classes in the Pittsburgh area will take place during a six-week period, Monday through Friday from either 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the release said. Classes will be taught by experienced and licensed instructors who will prepare students to enter the casino industry. Those who participate can get an interview for full-time employment after completing the classes, but it does not guarantee you will get a job.

Those who want to attend the dealer school can register online with Live! Casino. The dealer school is at the lower level of the Westmoreland Mall (across from Old Navy), at 5256 U.S. 30 in Greensburg.
