What State Is Most Excited to Have Spring in the Air?

Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

Spring has sprung. It’s a statement that brings excitement to many, and not just for the attention-grabbing word play.

Winter can be a battle for many Americans, especially in states where the cold and the snow hits hardest. While summer is the gold standard for seasons to most people, spring perhaps brings more excitement because it signals the end of winter and lets everyone know that summer is fast approaching.

Spring is when flowers start blooming, grass starts showing and everything begins to get greener and greener.

Another wonderful perk of the spring is that the days become more full of sun, as the start of spring also means that instead of more darkness than light in the day, it is the opposite. The spring equinox officially jump-starts the so-called “longer days” with equal parts sun and darkness on that day, and the following days slowly gaining more and more sunlight.

With the spring equinox fast approaching on March 19, people experiencing cold temperatures across the country couldn’t be more excited.

So, which states exactly are the most excited for Tuesday the 19th? PennStakes.com took a break from Pennsylvania sports betting and used Google Trends to measure search volume interest scores over the last week to find out.

Pennsylvania Loves Spring

Surprisingly, Pennsylvania led the way, beating out some harsher climates by searching out the spring equinox even more than they do. With the coldest states like Minnesota focusing more on the warming of the days and the melting of the snow, they likely lose sight of the spring equinox. The equinox does not slip past the minds of Pennsylvanians, as members of the state are clearly excited for more and more sunshine as they burst out of winter ready for warmer, brighter days.
