PennStakes.com took a break from covering Pennsylvania sports betting to figure out the top shows, using IMDB’s list of the Top 50 most watched TV shows in the United States during 2023 as a starting point. Then we turned to AhRefs for its list of the five most-searched shows this year. The shows were: “The Last of Us,” “Ted Lasso,” “The Mandalorian,” “Succession” and “The Bear.” We then used Google Trends to search each television show, finding the interest level in each state for those five programs.

After compiling the trends since Jan. 1, we averaged the results to get the top TV shows for each state.

‘The Last of Us’ Dominates U.S. Households

In Pennsylvania – where we at PennStakes.com offer the best PA sportsbook promo codes – the most preferred television show is “The Last of Us,” starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The show measured 26% in its level of interest. This result is no shocker. The Craig Mazin-produced show was the most popular in 42 other states, underscoring its commercial success and encouraging the production of a second season.

Apple T.V.’s “Ted Lasso,” featuring Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham, was the second-most popular show in Pennsylvania with a 23% level of interest. The Brendan Hunt-produced show also claimed the second spot in 25 other states. Renowned for its critical acclaim and success, “Ted Lasso” earned an 8.8 rating with a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score.

“Succession” landed third on our list with a 20% level of interest among residents in the Quaker State following its fourth and last season. The Jesse Armstrong-produced show only received the highest level of interest in four states, but earned many second- place and third-place results too.
